Issue No. 12: Immerse

My introductory issue as Editor-In-Chief. Immerse was about learning the ropes of editorship, and starting to poke at existing boundaries. The skeleton of our Issue No. 13 rebrand started here. As a leader, I’m intrigued by the notion of dismantling norms and innovating beyond the status quo.

Spark Magazine had long operated under the distant mentorship of industry giants — the Condés of the world. While it worked in our developmental years, we were desperately needing to shed our “old print” skin and claim a unique identity. You can see hints of a later inevitable rebrand being seeded throughout No. 12’s pages: the first appearance of an issue title on our cover, refreshed design considerations, and added emphasis on anti-conformity.
